Dovetail principals are Mr. Alan R. Frasz, President, and Mr. Matthew Bennett, Vice President.
Alan R. Frasz
is President and a principal owner of Dovetail Solar and Wind. He joined the firm in January 2006 after working 28 years in the information technology industry. He provides Dovetail a wealth of business & management experience. In addition to driving the tremendous growth of Dovetail over the past 5 years, he has also been an active contributor to the renewable energy industry across the region. Prior to Dovetail, Mr. Frasz was division vice president at two high growth computer technology firms: TRION Technologies Inc. (Mayfield Village, OH). and Lexi-Comp, Inc. (Hudson, OH). He also has held management, sales and technical positions at BEA Systems, Inc. (San Jose, CA), at FileNet, Inc. (Costa Mesa, CA), and for 15 years while at Digital Equipment Corp. (Maynard, MA). Mr. Frasz earned his BS at Case Western Reserve University, where he also performed research in Biomedical Engineering for several years.
Mr. Frasz has been a member of the Green Energy Ohio Board of Directors since May 2009. He chairs the GEO Membership Committee. He is widely recognized across the State for his expertise on the financing and payback analysis of renewable energy systems, and regularly presents at 15+ conferences and forums each year, as well as at several for-fee professional workshops, such as the ASME. His contributions were recognized by Green Energy Ohio in selecting him to receive their prestigious Pioneer of the Year in Renewable Energy 2010 Award.
is Dovetail’s founder and Vice President of Engineering and Technology. He oversees all system designs and product evaluations. He also supervises installation quality, and manages consulting, maintenance and support services.
Mr. Bennett has been actively involved in the renewable energy industry since the mid-1990s. Mr. Bennett first incorporated solar and wind power into a home he built in 1994, which was later featured in the April 2001 issue of Ohio Magazine. He has received training and certifications from Solar Energy International, the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association, and the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners. Matthew is also a certified factory installer with Uni-Solar to install thin-film photovoltaic roofing systems for building integrated solar arrays.
Mr. Bennett is a North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Certified Solar PV Installer. NABCEP is the national certification organization for professional installers in the field of renewable energy. NABCEP issues voluntary certification credentials to those qualified professionals who satisfy rigorous eligibility requirements established by the Board of Directors. (see www.nabcep.org). Mr. Bennett was one of the first installers in the country to obtain NABCEP Solar PV Installer certification in 2003, and renewed his certification for another 3 years in 2006 and again in 2009.
Matt was one of the founding members of Green Energy Ohio and served on the GEO Board from 2002-2004. He received the GEO Volunteer of the Year 2008 - Southeast Region award for his numerous contributions to growth of solar in Ohio.
In addition to managing Dovetail project designs and implementations, Mr. Bennett also regularly conducts Solar PV Installer Training classes in conjunction with the Energy Institute at Hocking College in Nelsonville, OH (see
) offering NABCEP Solar PV Installer Entry Level certification testing.
is Dovetail Sales Director, and a member of our leadership team. He has extensive experience in building high performance B2B sales teams. Mr. Leahy worked in the residential contracting business from 2004 to 2009, and is a licensed builder in the State of Michigan. He has experience in residential and commercial contracting as an installer, foreman, estimator, system designer, and contractor. In addition to his contracting experience Mr. Leahy spent 28 years in the Information Technology arena focused on new business development and large program/project management. He has held positions in sales management at multiple billion dollar organizations. He is a NABCEP Certified PV Installer. He is also holds a NABCEP PV Technical Sales Certification. He has completed NABCEP approved certification training courses in the Solar Thermal disciplines. Mr. Leahy holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University.
is the Construction Manager for Dovetail Solar and Wind, and a member of our leadership team. He is responsible for overseeing the implementation of all solar and wind system projects. He joined Dovetail in 2008, and brought extensive construction and project management experience acquired during his 27 years in the construction and real estate industries. Prior to Dovetail, Mr. Taylor owned and managed a successful construction display company in the metro Detroit, Michigan area. He also worked in the auto industry at Ford for 15 years. Mr. Taylor has held licenses as both a residential builder and real estate salesperson. He has attended solar photovoltaic design and installation training at the Hocking Energy Institute, and holds the NABCEP PV Entry Level Certificate.
